Hair, Among Other Things

>>>>I just finished a poster for Savannah's 2011 production of Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical. (There may or may not be more editing done to the type. I'm sadly not equipped with the type handling skills of a graphic designer. Maybe one day.) It looks very different from how I originally started working on. It looks very retro. I like it and it allows me to use the phrase "throw-back" which also makes me happy. I utilized my cut-paper technique and modified it using the handy-dandy program Photoshop. Maybe it will get chosen as the image they will actually use...We'll have to wait and see. Until then, wish me luck.

<<<<Also, as an update, I recently won the Bandwagon Poster Art + Sale Poster competition!!!!! (I believe there were two posters competitions up for grabs). I won one of them with my submission on the left. I'm so excited. They will be printing my poster! Sadly, I can't go to the event but I'm looking forward to seeing how my poster will come out when it actually is hand-printed. Check back for more updates.
In the meantime, if you're super bored, check out this cool design based website: six word story everyday. My friend told me about it. Pick six words and make them into a design. Sound lame? Hell no, check it out if you don't believe me.

Stay cool my babies,

Getting Published

In my Getting Published Class, we're working with Charleston Magazine. The article hasn't run yet but here is my work in progress. Here is my sketch:
And here is my final work:

The premise of the article is a woman and her husband, both from Charleston, SC, and their journey in Italy to the town of Spoleto for the town's Festival dei Due Mondi.

Next we're working on posters for the musical Hair which will be performed in Savannah in May. In the mean time, I'm trying to get into hippie-mode.

!Bandwagon Submission!

I just wanted to make a quick update as I've been busy this last week and quite productive...or at least it seems. Here is my submission I made to the Savannah Bandwagon Poster Contest, wow say that three times fast! I changed my image with a sudden burst of inspiration in another direction. Hope you like it.
Adios and more later
